The Specialized Weightlifting Sports School in Cahul is an institution subordinate to the Ministry of Education and Research (MEC) and is part of the Weightlifting Federation of Moldova, led by the coach of the national weightlifting team Andrei Reuțchi.

The institution has a rich history and a significant impact in the development of sports in Moldova. Established in the 1960s, this school has been a source of weightlifting promotion in the country since the beginning. With a team of professional coaches and an impressive track record of performance, the weightlifting department continues to be a center of excellence in the sport.

The head of the school is the coach of the national weightlifting team, Andrei Reuțchi, who made many contributions to the development of weightlifting in Moldova. With a team of 7 professional coaches, 3 of whom are licensed at European level, the school provides high quality training for young weightlifting enthusiasts.

The weightlifting section offers the opportunity for children from the age of 9 to sign up, but only after successfully passing the coach's selection process. Through this selection, the coaches evaluate both the physical fitness and the moral aspects and character of each potential athlete. This approach ensures that the athletes who enroll are dedicated and prepared to learn the basic techniques of weightlifting and develop the strength and power necessary to excel in the sport.

As for the learning process, it is well structured and focuses on developing basic techniques in the first two years. Special attention is paid to warming up and stretching to prevent injury. Once basic technique is mastered, athletes move on to building muscle strength and power with personalized training plans.

What makes this section really special is its history of success in international competitions. Cahul athletes have achieved outstanding results at the World, European and Olympic Games. The gold, silver and bronze medals won at these competitions show the commitment and skills of athletes and coaches.

Participation in competitions is an essential component of the learning process, giving athletes the chance to demonstrate their skills and gain experience in competitions. Through perseverance, training and dedication, the weightlifting athletes continue to proudly represent their school and country in international competitions.
